Things you should never do with Family #1

Instruction to Drive

My sister is studying for her provisional licence test so i suggested that we should go and take a practice spin for when she eventually has her lessons she doesn’t want to be starting from scratch. Polite conversation.

BEEP (text)

“You free after work for a driving lesson?”

Who am I to go back on my word afterall and to be honest i remember when i wanted to start driving, i would be a persistant prat half the time. But then again my brother didn’t have my car at the time and wasn’t worried about having his nerves shot to pieces!

In saying that, she wasn’t all that bad and there was less bunny-hopping than i thought there would be. A lot of grinding of the gears and cutting out of the car. Apart from that and the sheer panic when she realised she had to operate the clutch / accelerator AND steer!

It was an hour of sweat, blood (hers not mine), tears (mine not hers) and a lot of stiffled swearing and passenger seat wheel grabbing. I only now realise why the instructors have dual control cars!

I pity anyone who teaches another person how to drive. Especially a family member – it leads to bad things…

I’m unteachable. Seriously. I will never be able to drive :)
