Hitman 2007 – Trailer

December 10, 2007

Now i was complete cack at playing the computer game Hitman but i have to say i’ve seen the trailer in the cinema and think it’s looking fairly knick…

I’d imagine what will follow on is an increase in people getting bar code’s tattoo’d on their various body parts…and why not!

The Worst 25 Film Re-Makes

December 3, 2007

I’m no dedicated film buff but i can generally tell when a flick is good and one is shit, I am human after all! This list has some well earned shit-flicks and some surprises on there too, one or two i might not agree with and while they might be in someones opinion a shit remake, they do stand out for being a great film anyway!
For instance, they never should have tried to remake the Pink Panther, even if they did splurge a bomb on the sound track and budget, you can’t top the Peter Sellers original but i’m split over the likes of Meet Joe Black’ (1998), fair decent flick where i didn’t like the original…each to their own i say! But what i will say is Jack Lemon’s ‘Out of Towners’ should NEVER have been touched…pure perfect!

American Gangster

November 21, 2007

Ventured to see American Gangster last night in Movies @ Swords and i wasn’t let down! Having heard much of the hype and heard one or two bad reviews, mostly by famale co-workers who didn’t like the drug/ injecting heroin elements of the film but from the start the film grabs your attention and is a well put together from rags to riches story for a 1960′s Drug Lord, played by Denzel!

This is easily one of the best films i have seen in a long time, especially this year and if you like the Goodfellas / Casino genre it’s a must see! I think Denzel and Russell Crowe gel well together on screen and both storylines keep you interested the full length of the 157 minutes which otherwise would be bum numbing!

Denzel plays a a great lead role as Frank Lucas who is on the rise in the drug industry in New York in the final years of the 60′s and Russell plays a straight laced Narc who’s job it is to being down the major players in the import / dealing industry.

This will definitely be added to my DVD collection once released! A realy good gangster film!

Eastern Promises

November 12, 2007

Having seen the trailer for this film a while back I have to say I wouldn’t have been in a complete rush to hand over the sheckles for, rather wait for a decent rip to be made available. Why? Primarily because of the disaster movie that was ‘A History of Violence’ and since then I just can’t bear to watch ACTORS NAME, why? Because he’s a donkey!

The only thing that really sticks in my head about this film is that it’s just pure gore from the outset. Scorsese would have been well proud with the amount of arterial splatter and alpha male gangster style approach but in the end the main difference is it’s set in posh lil ol London and it tries to hard to be Donny Brasco.

Acting wise it’s amazing and they would all pass for Russian Mafia but on contrast the butter wouldn’t melt role played by ACTRESS is just a bit too Oxford-Werthers Original for me. Low points would be a ending that just kicks you out feeling ‘eh it just got good, why ruin it now, I have questions’ and a completely avoidable scene where he fights completely naked and just leaves you feeling as awkward as the naked wrestling scene from Borat the Movie.

Overall if your into gore spend the money but a classic it ain’t!

With the eyes burning in the back of their sockets i will be mostly leaving it for the night! Im off to see the film ‘Eastern Promises’ tonight, didn’t really like the trailer, don’t really like that dude from ‘A History of Violence‘ either but it’s better than sitting in hoping raw flesh flashes up on Bravo…

American Gangster – Full Trailer

One of the films i will be looking forward to see! Everything Denzel seems to touch turns to gold and he seems to slot into the Harlem Gangster role like a glove, remain to be so certain about Mr. Crowes efforts…

Roll on 16th Nov!

October 30, 2007

Not a lot of the films out now have been floating my boat as of late, both The Kingdom and Rendition didn’t really exceed any expectations I had so I wasn’t going to start getting excited about Michael Moore’s latest flag burning addition to his box set!

The film Sicko (great title by the way) basically has a pop at America’s health care system where if your not insured you dont get health care blah blah blah and without having to go go too deeply into the “plot”, wouldn’t want to ruin it for you! But needless to say Michael and his camera crew wander into middle america to find all the worst heartstring stories about uncle guber was denied a bone marrow transplant because he didn’t sign his surname on the insurance document etc.

In true formula of the Michael Mooresque films he goes North to his country cousins in Canada to reveal how great they are getting on with low gun crime and being able to go to hospital without it costing them an arm and a leg (phwa phwa – had to). Then he globe trots and really sees how bad America have it!

Strangely enough Moore gives out about a doctor in France who seems to be very anti-American but i think this whole film (while it brings welcome attention to the fact that America have gotten something wrong along the way and it is shocking and terrible) is also very anti-American!
My opinion: Does anyone actually care? – Save your 9 bucks on this one and go wait in an A&E waiting room for the hour and half you could’ve been watching this one…
