Edinburgh January 2008

January 21, 2008

Home from Edinburgh last night refreshed and revitalised! For just a 2 night break it really felt like it was longer, and just long enough to forget about work and the rest of the nonsense. I got to see family and got to wander the lovely streets of Edinburgh!

If there was one city I could say I wish Dublin was more like it would be Edinburgh, there’s something that just feels uniquely homely in this city, the cobble streets, the sandstone Victorian houses and the lovely setting that is Edinburgh Castle. In a way it reminds me a lot of Galway city but a bit more special, you just feel like the winding alleys and steep endless streets with steep stairways could tell a 101 stories, and you would want to listen!

I guess it’s just a city I felt at home at and would class myself as a nervous traveller, always assuming the worst will happen but felt at ease in Edinburgh!

Didn’t go out partying too much but would reccomend a bit of grub in the The Filling Station (sit on the Royal Mile) and The Living Room (on George’s Street) for great atmosphere and good cocktails!
Well needless to say I would recommend if you have never been – GO!

My Bad Flight!

December 10, 2007

Will it make you think of not flying with a particular airline? probably not

Will it make you change your itinerary? probably not

Will it make you feel better listening to everyone elses misery? tick!

And why? Because we are irish and miserable bastards and love a good tale of someone elses misfortune..

When we finally took off, an hour later, the crew assured us that the stop would only be about 20 minutes; it wasn’t. Our stop in Miami lasted about an hour. People were angry. The crew tried to keep us calm with peanuts and drinks, but it didn’t work.

Trim Castle, Meath

November 19, 2007

Was at a wedding there on Friday in Trim in Co. Meath and stayed in Trim Castle Hotel and just thought i would give it a proper shout out, the hotel was probably one of the if not the best hotel i’ve stayed in – in Ireland!
The food was lovely for the main meal , and the breakfast in bed just the right amount of hung over spots! I didnt get to walk through the town so i don’t know if Trim as a whole would be worth visiting but i’d give the thumbs up to the accomodation! Reasonably priced too for 90 blips for the night, i’ve stayed in pricier shit hole B&B’s!

Ps. The bird in the pic isn’t my moth
